RS poll: Nomination from Sep 16

Filing of nomination papers for elections to the lone Rajya Sabha seat
from the union territory of Puducherry will begin on September 16.
The Election Commission of India had already announced the elections
to the lone seat on October 3. Puducherry Legislative Assembly
Secretary Sivaprakasam will be the returning officer for the
elections.
According to reports, the filing of papers would close on September 23
and scrutiny would be on September 24. The last date for withdrawal of
nominations would be September 26.In case of a lone contestant, he
woud be declared elected on September 24, immediately after scrutiny.
The Rajya Sabha seat became vacant following election of V
Narayanasamy as Union Minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs,
following his success in the May 13 Lok Sabha polls.
